Mets Alum Liam Hicks Makes Marlins Opening Day Roster

Toronto Mets Alumni Liam Hicks (2017) has made the Miami Marlins opening day roster

Hicks was the second player selected in the Rule 5 draft this past winter and is only the 5th Marlins Rule 5 player to make an opening day roster.  Coincidentally, of those 5, 2 of them are former Toronto Mets Alumni joining Zach Pop (2014)

In 2024, Hicks hit .264 with six home runs, 64 walks (13% walk rate) and 58 strikeouts (11.7% strikeout rate) across 113 games, all at the Double-A level.

Hicks registered a .272 batting average with 23 walks and 14 strikeouts in 33 games for Double-A Erie after a trade from the Rangers to the Tigers.

Originally drafted by the Rangers out of Arkansas State in 2021, the Tigers acquired Hicks for Carson Kelly at the 2024 trade deadline.

Liam is the son of Bill and Jen Hicks.  His brother Connor is also a Mets Alumni and is currently a senior at 4th ranked Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.
